Trailer Trash on Turd Beach

Last month at this time I was winding up a week at Fort Myers Beach and left the area with a foul tale to tell.  It had been a number of years since we spent any time in Florida so we were looking forward to a relaxing week on the beach.  I also planned to do a bit of running in preperation for the upcoming fall marathon so I was excited to find that an awesome beach run was located outside my door.

The resort we stayed at was near the northern end of the island.  Most mornings I was out just as there was enough light to see any hazards such as holes in the beach sand and ran south at the waters edge as the tide came in.  One day I ran with another Rainer and within a half mile of the start she asked me an odd question,  Is this a Doggie Beach?  I asked why and she replied she saw a lot of waste.

Since I was running right at the edge of the water I never noticed it but the next morning on my longer run I ran north first to add an extra few miles and reached the southern area about an hour later than usual so the incoming tide pushed me a litte further onto the beach.  It was LANDMINE dodging time.  Fort Myers Beach could be officialy renamed TURD BEACH, there were mounds of dog shit everywhere. When I looked up I figured out the problem, 100 yards ahead was Trailer Trash City.  RV's were lined up like sardines in a can so I made the assumption that their late night walk with the pooch bitch dog in the cloak of darkness gave them the opportunity to leave the pile.   After a few seconds of gagging I was able to recover and snap a photo.

I understand that these trailer people don't want to fill their trash bins with the stink of their animal since they are living in such crammed quarters but believe me the rest of us don't think your actions are cute.  Individually they certainly get away with dumping the load but as a group I will always think of them as shitty people.
