Oceanside is the northern-most coastal community in San Diego County, bordering Camp Pendleton. As the name implies, a good of the development is right along the coast, just west of the downtown area along the main drag, historic Route 101.
Buyers looking for oceanfront and water views homes and condos have a number of options here, in an area that is pretty densely built just south of Camp Pendleton all the way to the Buena Vista Lagoon that borders Carlsbad. A popular complex that offers a range of condos desired for 1st and 2nd homes and for investment is North Coast Village.
Located between the ocean and Pacific Street, the main coastal thoroughfare, and at the north end of town just south of the Oceanside Marina, North Coast Village offers about 530 1 to 3 bedroom units in 2-unit cottages and 7 3-story buildings amidst lush landscaping. Many of the units have average to excellent ocean views, in a gate guarded community with security service.
The buildings are clustered about a large courtyard with 2 pools and spa, putting green, waterfalls, koi ponds, and the HOA Office. Ping pong, billiards, a gym, sauna and poolside BBQ are other amenities for residents and guests to enjoy. And of course the ocean is just steps away.
Built in 1978, the complex is well maintained, and some units have been beautifully upgraded. For investors, North Coast Village represents a terrific investment and units are very popular with vacationers dues to their proximity to the ocean (there is a large bulletin board at the entrance advertising the short term and long term rentals - units rent, in general from about $850 - $2300/week although this varies with size, location and time of year with June through August being peak months).
Oceanside homes for sale in North Coast Village currently range from $350,000 to $1,490,000 (ocean front); most are 1 and 2 bedroom (with 1 or 2 baths) but a rare 3 bedroom comes along. Units range in size from 760 SF to 1500 SF. Most are single story but a few 2-story units become available from time to time. The cottages, which surround the complex, contain 2 units; many have spectacular views and yards. Pricing on these tends to be $900K and above.
North Coast Village in Oceanside represents a terrific opportunity for second home and investment buyers, as well as primary home buyers wanting a condo by the ocean and within a reasonable distance to plenty of shopping, restaurants and access to public transportation. The Oceanside Marina is within view for those who want to have their boat nearby.
