Lake front... not land front, the drought in Georgia

As I am sure anyone with a television knows the southeast United States has been in a drought for a couple of years now.  So if you are looking to buy a lake home you need to consider water level in the lake... even in a drought situation. Below is a link to the noaa web site that shows flood stage, full pool level and today's level of Georgia lakes.  While we have had more rain in 2008 than in 2007 some Georgia lakes are yet to recover.

Lake Lanier at River Forks Park in Gainesville. This is the water level in one of the Georgia lakes currently.  So your dock at a home on this lake may not be in water and your boat could be sitting on grass.  That's right it's been out of water for so long that you might be cutting the grass where the lake used to be.

Not Lake Sinclair.  http://www.georgiapower.com/lakes/Sinclair.asp

We have water, in fact Lake Oconee that is just to our north was built as a holding reservoir to keep Lake Sinclair at full pool.  Plant Branch (a coal burning plant of Southern Company- Georgia Power) is located on Lake Sinclair.  They need and use water from Lake Sinclair.  In the summer they also cool the water before they return it to Lake Sinclair.

So if you are looking for a Georgia lake you can actually enjoy at all times, even when there is a HUGE rain deficit, then consider Lake Sinclair.  As stated above, there is link where you can check Georgia lake levels that are updated DAILY!

We have water and we have homes at GREAT PRICES right now.  The interest rate is LOW.  This is a great time to invest in a Georgia Lake that is "lake front" property, not "land front".

Beautiful pictures....how lovely to be a specialist in lakeside properties. You probably enjoy the peace and serenity. In these tumultuous times, it's always a good idea to stop, meditate, and marvel at scenes like these.

Thanks Pacita- I do really enjoy where I live.  And as much as I love the serenity of "my" lake and have for years and years I think more so I enjoy I still live in a small community.  We're just over an hour from Atlanta, so the city is still somewhat convenient, but we don't have the traffic, the smog, the hustle and bustle.

I'm so glad you enjoyed my photos.

These photos are amazing, Tammy.  I couldn't believe that this was an orphan.  Are you still using some of them?

Ron the sunset photo is one that I've copywritten and use in various publications for my advertising.  It's time to get something more "fall" on my website too.
