Before Winter hits, if you are looking for a nice weekend drive and a place to have lunch, I'd like to invite you to have an old fashioned hamburger, fries, and a real milkshake made with Crystal ice cream. All of this while sitting outside enjoying a gorgeous view of the Sacramento River. Where you ask? Why it's the Dinky Diner in Clarksburg. The friendly folks at the Dinky Diner will cook your burger to order and give you more than enough fries to satisfy even the hardiest of appetites.
Driving directions: go North on the River Road (on the Yolo County side of the river) from Freeport Bridge until you get to Clarksburg. Once you pass the electronic "SLOW NOW" sign, you're almost there. The Dinky Diner is parked on the River side.
Or take Jefferson Boulevard South out of West Sacramento about 15 miles until you get to Clarksburg Road. Go right on Clarksburg Road until you get to the River Road and take a right. The Dinky diner will be on your left/on the river side. You can't miss it.
If you have children, you may want to pop in to Silverbend (north of the Dinky Diner on River Road) to select a pumpkin and take a train ride. They are open during Halloween Season, but call first.
It's a beautiful time of year in Clarksburg. Caution, drive slowly on the River Road due to lots of cyclists and the occassional tractor. Drive safe and enjoy your lunch!
