How Strong Are Your Links?

By

One of the most important things we can do in the Real Estate community is create strong networks and link to each other. Active Rain is a great new resource that each of us can use to learn about our peers. When I say learn, I mean you can see their work ethic, listen to their perspectives and decide if this is a person to "associate" yourself with. Trust is earned and I'm sure it will take time for people to earn respect within our community. However, I can't stress the importance of creating links to your trusted associates. Utilizing reciprocal links between your website and your associates will help to better serve your clients. I'm sure many of you out there feel that there are some "broken links" in your fence. I don't mean that you click on them and they don't go anywhere. What I mean is that you are linked to people that don't add value to your "value chain." Don't just add links to your website merely to have them. Find the professionals in this community and in the real world that help make your job easier and help to better serve your clients!

I continuously strive to look for holes and make better links. If you are in California or Hawaii and are looking to fill a hole in your fence, get a hold of me..

You're absolutely right, Scott.  I think some of us forget that part of what we should be doing while networking in this community is to find trusted associates to link to. Reading posts certainly gives one a better sense of whether or not the person is one we'd like to associate with.

Great blog Scott, for a while there Real Estate Agents were getting a little carried away ok a lot carried away with reciprocal linking. Some would just add anybody and everybody. Things have changed recently when it comes to linking and the way Search Engines look at it. Your linking strategy really needs to look natural or it could hurt you with the Search Engine results. When I say natural, I meen you need to not only have reciprocal links but one way links as well. It's really good to have one way links pointed to your site and it's good to space it all out, not to many at one time.
