Match-O-Matic Quiz - Who SHOULD You be Voting For?

By

9-17 match o matic Here's an interesting little quiz that was forwarded to me. It's a little ditty that ABC/USA Today put together that asks you to select the candidate quote that most accurately reflects your position on a number of issues in the upcoming election. It appears to me to be a reasonably accurate and unbiased representation of the candidates positions and it did a great job of reflecting my opinions. I have always considered myself to be fiscally conservative while being more socially liberal (I like to think of it as being firmly based in reality).

In this case, I had 9 votes in the McCain column and 4 in the Obama, which is probably pretty close to the truth for me. It would be interesting to see the scores posted by some of you Dissenters and Silent Majority Folks. Take the test once and be honest - you might be surprised - you might be reinforced. Have a little fun. then come back and let us know how it went.

Gene - thanks for sharing, I was 10 McCain, 3 Obama, but, I will admit that there were two questions that I had a hard time picking, one where I disagreed with both and one where I agreed with both. I also consider myself fiscally conservative but socially liberal.

Gene ~ Wow, 9-4, but only because I didn't agree with John McCain on the issues as well. Thanks, very enlightening.

Hugh - we always suspected you had a softer more liberal side. You can't argue with results like this.

Wow, 11-2 here.  I feel better now about my decision!  I was actually surprised that Obama said the two I was for.  Maybe that is encouraging IF he wins.

I had 10 for Obama and 3 for McCain. The problwm with the poll is that this is what they SAY, but can we believe that what they say is what they will DO (or at least attempt to do)?

Gene - I scored 10-3 in favor of McCain, but it isn't a real score with me because there were four questions where I didn't agree with either of their positions!!

Thanks Simon - There were some that I didn't agree with either - much like in real life I don't agree 100% with either of these Bozo's.

Leslie - That's the real issue. They will say anything to get elected but the reality of what they CAN & WILL do is a much different matter. It's always fun to watch the post-election back-peddaling, especially when you get a newbie on board who suddenyl realizes there is only so much they can do in spite of their promises. After all, we're not annointing a Messiah or even crowning a King, just electing a President for 4 years.

Linda - Why would the shotguns be aiming for your head? Unless you are guilty of something or feeling guilty about something - like claiming to be an independent when you've really been an Obama acolite all along. If you found the little quiz interesting, that's all I wanted. No need to get all offensive or defensive about it.

Gene,

Because as in the cute little video someone shared just the other day (was hilarious) where every time someone stood up there was always someone in the distance taking a pot-shot at them.  I loved the video and even though it was intended to represent Palin I could relate to it as well, Hence my comment.

I was VERY MUCH for Romney and had I been fortunate enough to vote for my pick it would have been a Romney/Huckabee ticket. I believe the two of them would have done far more for the country then all four candidates put together.

Linda,

I have to agree there.  Only I would've liked to see a Huckabee/Romney ticket.  :)

I'm not that crazy about Huckabee but Romney had my vote. I think he would have been a great VP pick as well - but nobody asked my opinion. Still hard to believe these 4 are the best we can field in this country. Something wrong somewhere.

I was 10-3 for McCain, but felt like it was a poor test.  It was sound bites without the entire... what they said.... it's hard to choose a position based on a partial statement.  And like others sometimes I didn't agree with either.

Good point - unfortunately most people who vote pick a candidate based on sound bites. Many of the people you see debating here on AR actually know something about the candidates and whether they agree with me or they are wrong, I respect their opinion and their passion. The general public is a different animal who will bet their future on nothing more than the age, race, sex or political affiliation of the candidate. It's a miracle if they can even remember a sound bite or know which candidate said it. The quiz is an interesting little exercise though.

11-2 for McCain, I am sure the obama quotes were from AFTER he beat Hillary and started lying to the right.  Fun tho!

that was fun and interesting b/c depending on the issue I go different ways, so it was neat to see who got the most votes from me.......it's a close call, guess I'll have to wait for the debates!!
