Marketing and Advertising Among Home Inspectors

I am just curious to see how different inspectors are generating business around the country.

The bulk of my business comes directly from Real Estate agents and referrals.

I have heard other inspectors say that they get alot of business from websites and the like.

I have an associate in Arizona who is doing about 600 inspections per year.

Is this something that is attainable or does that come with more years in the business?

How is everyone generating business?

The bulk of my business comes directly from the Internet. I am probably sitting at 80-20 right now on Internet vs real estate agents. I have ads in the yellow pages and yellow book although they are not generating squat. I think too it depends on the part of the country you are in. I am finding that Home Inspections vary GREATLY depending on the part of the country you live in. Here in Indy it totally pays to advertise online whereas in other parts of the country print advertising seems to work the best. Either way the only true way to find out is to spend the money and figure it out.

600 inspections a year for one inspector? Again I think it depends on the part of the country. 600 seems a bit much for a one man shop, but certainly could be obtainable over time.
