Who knew being married to a (former) Math Teacher would haunt me for life!
I don't always think before I speak. And I especially do not calculate before I speak. Who does? Why do we need to? That's why our cell phones now have calculators in them, isn't it? We don't all have a calculator for a brain.
OK, so what's the story/reason behind this post? We were sitting at lunch today and talking about advertising fees (ugh.) $200 for this, $400 for that. It's never ending, isn't it?
Anyway, we began discussing a "two for one" offer one advertiser made me in effort to make up for a mistake he made. I made a comment about how it's not really saving me money because we will still have to pay x amount. And he says "no, X amount!" (Can't remember the numbers now, no surprise there. But basically, I was hoping he would offer us a free page for our trouble.)
Anyway, I am CONFIDENT that I am right so I argue my point whole-heartedly, then realize where I went wrong, blush and say, "ok yea."
And he replied: "That's what you get for arguing with the math teacher!"
I ALMOST wanted to remind him that he is NO LONGER a math teacher! Not sure it would have done any good, though. Oh well. I'll get him one day :)
It did remind me, however, why the idea of Teams works so well. One person's weakness is the other one's strength, and vice versa.
Wow! How much more do we get done as a team than by ourselves? I cannot even imagine doing it all by myself- as a Realtor or as a mother. I really admire anyone who does it all by themselves, whether by choice or necessity. Not only in business, but also in life. Single parents come to mind especially. You are heroes in my book!
I'd love to hear from anyone and everyone about this. Whether you have a partner to share the load with or you go at it alone. It would be fascinating and I'm sure educational to learn how teams accomplish the workload together or how one person manages to get it all done.
