I've found, in my experience, that many companies offer similar products. Its very hard to differentiate when comparing loans side-by-side. There are two main reasons that I have success with building realtor relationships.
1. I've seen a lot of unique financial and credit situations in my work experience. With this experience, I can find the best loan available for each situation. All too often, some other companies or loan officers settle into a "comfort zone" with a few lenders and products, and may not choose to do the research necessary to find the best loan for the customer. I'm willing to spend the time with each client, to really get to know their situation and their qualifications, so as to find a solution to their borrowing need. Many of my clients work with me over the course of several months - I will offer advice to each client to be sure the loan they choose is in their best interest, period.
2. The second competitive advantage is my availability. My office hours are Monday through Friday 9am to 9pm, and weekends from 9am to 5pm. Outside of those hours, my calls are forwarded to my cell phone. You can reach me when you need me. There is no secretary to go through. By being available, I can help with a clients application and questions at almost anytime!
