What do you say.Is it that time of year already? Applefest in Waukesha County,WI

By
Real Estate Agent with Coldwell Banker

Well I believe it is that time of year again in Wisconsin when apples are everywhere and we do our best to honor them. I tend to agree with my son Spencer that they are best featured when in pie form. An art form that consumes you, or we consume.

Saturday we are off to Applefest, and as I try to get rid of this cold I know I am going on Hayrides, eating until the cows come home, and seeing all the nice smiling faces that say Tom "Have you been effected by gravity; you look different"

I reply with absolute sincerity, "Yep, it's all this wonderful apple food that makes me as thin as I am today"

"an apple a day, and not an apple pie a day"  Now that is funny, Tom.  Haven't heard that one before.

What can I say; we all have an obsession.

Some how I became infatuated with pie.

Those apples look SO good!  When I was a kid growing up outside Boston, my neighbor had an apple tree.  I remember making applesauce.  Wonder why we never made pie?

Nah, now I am too lazy to do much baking.  My mother in law loves to bake apple pies.  I will let her do the baking!

hi Tom,

thanks for the early afternoon smiles... I agree with Shirley.  (((-:

I hope you and Spencer have a nice time and take a few pictures to share on your blog... I think I should try and find some time this weekend to visit an orchard too; it's just beautiful here today! Gala is my favourite apple variety. What's yours?

My Dad makes some wonderful baked beans and the part I like best about them is that he cuts some apples up and places them on top before baking. Did you ever try apples and beans? They taste magnificent together. I'll get the recipe and send it to you....

Jo

Tom: I am so jealous. I love apple pie! I make a mean apple pie, but I am very lucky in that my neighbor also makes great pies, and she does it way more often than I do.

At one point in my life, I thought I would open an apple pie shop just outside of Zion National Park and sell apple pies to all the tourists coming in and out of the park. I saw an old apple orchard for sale there and thought it would be a great way to spend the day. Best laid plans...reality intruded.

Tom, we have some great apple farms up this way too, and around Gays Mills, there are lots of apple stands to visit. Brings in the tourist and it is alway a good time!
