A big eye opener at the Charles Horwitz Planetarium, in Waukesha, Wisconsin

Charles Z Horwitz Planetarium

My son was asking me how old the universe was and I told him scientists used to think about twenty billion years, but with the use of the hubble telescope and measuring Capella and Procyon stars they narrowed it down to about thirteen to fourteen billion. He then asked me what is was like back then and I just look at him and tell him I was not around. He thought I was older than dirt before and now this really puts a new twist on things.

The Charles Horwitz planetarium is located in the Retzer nature center and it is truly a gem. I have always been fascinated with Astronomy and this is just up our alley. nebulas, fusion reactions and energy, quasars, black holes, and more.Nothing better than a Super Nova ( not a Chevy or Oasis song) to light up the Universe. This beautiful place is ran by the Waukesha School district.

Tom,

I had a good laugh earlier this evening when I read this...thanks. I remember that sometimes when I was playing scrabble online someone would ask me 'ASL' so I would reply 'older than dirt, neutered, don't remember'.  That always shut them up in a hurry.  ((((-:

I LOVE planetariums and haven't been to one in years. I wonder why I don't have a telescope yet? hmmm

I had a telescope but for the life of me I lost it. How do you lose a telescope? I still have my old set of binoculars but that's not going to get me nothing but some fried retinas.
