Have you ever tried to get latex gloves on a 4 year old?

Lets just say it's like doing a Rubiks Cube while riding a bicycle.  Even though he's hiding his hands behind his back, that's Roman clad with latex gloves and his bag full of trash scoured off his local beach in Ventura on Saturday morning during the Annual Coastal Cleanup Day.

There were multilple sites throughout Ventura County that provided gloves, trash bags, and even snacks and water.  This is Kyla signing in at the Ventura Harbor site.  She attends Villanova Prepatory School in Ojai and received community service credit for participating in the cleanup.

It was a GORGEOUS day to be at the beach!  Many families with children participated.  What a great way to teach our children about respecting nature!

What did we learn?  One of the most plentiful items we found was rusty nails and screws from palets and furniture that was burned on the beach.  We also found alot of broken glass.

I don't know about you, but I love taking my shoes off and feeling the sand between my toes.  Better make sure I get a tetanus shot before my next beach walk!

Hi Hope,

I camped with my sons Boy Scout troop on the beach this past weekend (Island Beach State Park Just a mere 3,000 miles away from you!) and we did a beach clean up on the ocean side, and I was pleasantly surprised how clean the beach was, most of the litter was bottle caps and cigarette butts, the butts were probably the only intentional littering.

It is always good practice to leave a place better than it was when you arived!
