WHAT A DAY! A Beautiful Indian Summer day and plenty of Texas sunshine! After a great morning in church, I did what I typically do this time of year: I had an OPEN HOUSE for one of my Sellers. I could have been enjoying the Plano Balloon Fest or walking around McKinney's Towne Lake or playing with my grandchildren (They were probably at a birthday party since they attend at least 2 per weekend.), but I just knew that this would be a great day for an Open House. Was I right?
After putting out lots of "pointer signs" with red balloons tied to them, Susannah and I set up our usual cookies, cold bottled water, and lemonade inside this beautiful 1911 Prairie Style house and waited only a minute for the crowd to start coming. We had a continual stream of people, families, individuals, babies, and grandparents (sorry, but no other Realtors) come through.
Everyone LOVED this house with its tall ceilings, gleaming wood floors, lots of windows, loads of updates like new kitchen and baths, and all tastefully done. The Seller also just reduced the price and it is great! You can find it on my website if you want to check it out: www.susimitchell.com. Here is a picture of the front. Lovely!
On the average, the 30 or more guests stayed 15 to 20 minutes each and we were open for 3.5 hours. There were lots of great comments and questions from the group. I handed out lots of business cards.
I believe that we will get an offer from someone who came through today. I really want to sell this home for this Seller! I also believe that Susannah and I made some great contacts with people who live in the neighborhood and some who are relocating here (Great move!). I not only collected phone numbers and email addresses, but I found something that caused most of them to ASK ME to contact them!
Successful Open House? I say, "YES!"
Why was it successful? I say because I anticipated it to be successful and I was prepared.
I will keep you posted on the outcome next week. Meanwhile, WHAT A DAY! I hope that yours was too!
