I've always wanted to be in a great bible study.  I remember when I first became a Christian, I read the bible say like 5 - 7 times sraight.  It was the best thing around.  I was involved in some bible studies.  Life seemed so good.  Then as I grew, I realized that so many bible studies are really geared for the beginner.

I've been invited a ton of them.  I'm excited until I find out that they're really just geared towards the beginner.  Now don't get me wrong, we need stuff to feed the beginner or newly "saved."  But as men, we really need to be challenged.  Really challenged.  I think of three quotes in particular for me.

1 Corinthians 3:2
I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready.
1 Corinthians 3:1-3

and

Hebrews 5:12
In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God's word all over again. You need milk, not solid food!
Hebrews 5:11-13

and finally.....

Hebrews 5:13
Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness.
Hebrews 5:12-14

inally, I was invited to a bible study from a great friend of mine who has lived the most wild life that has ever been lived....and....better yet....he has lived to tell about it.  He found Christ and has now started a bible study.

This one is different.  Not only are we reading a great book for guys who need to make right choices, we each have been challenged to memorize and entire book of the Bible.  We have all committed to memorizing the entire book of 1 John.  Wow.......

Now I'm thinking that I got in over my head.  Obviously, I'm totally in.  I love the challenge.  The fact that it raises the hair on my neck is a good thing.  Rather, the guys seem to be "man's men" that aren't into that Kumbaya crap.  I'm not into holding hands and hugs.  I just want to and need to kick butt in my pursuit and walk with Christ....It has to be an all out chase based upon passion. This should be a great challenge.  Looks as if I'm dropping the milktoast diet.  Should be a lot of fun.  I'll keep ya posted.  Really just living for the ultimate victory.  Stay encouraged.

Larry:  I am glad for you that you have found something that you think will work for you... but please tell me how "kicking butt" relates to a meaningful bible experience.

Hi Larry.  I asked you about your faith as it relates to your feelings about Sarah Palin.  I think I now understand why you like her so much.

Kickin it for the big man...nothing more Karen

Ken...oooooooeeeewwwwwwwwwwww.  Nice shot.  Actually nice observation.  But...let me make it clear...just b/c you are or I am a Christian, doesn't mean that drives my vote.  I'll tell you that 1/2 to 2/3rds of my church are Obama voters.  I don't understand it, but hey...I guess that's why we each have different DNA.  Believe me...my faith isn't driving the vote for her.  I like that we have elements of parallelity, but really, this is an intellectual vote...not a faith vote.  If that were the case, I'd be voting to bring back Pat Robertson....just not the case bro....but I LOVE YOUR OBSERVATION.  You're goooooooooood!

Larry, I am with you on your need to "kick butt" as compared to the "Kumbaya crap". LOL I think I understand the need to "go deeper" and get past the fluff. I have recently found a church I LOVE, and a women's bible study, but the study is not hard core. But it's all good! I'd like to hear about your progress on 1 John.

I'm with Alex on this one. I'm sooooo glad that God made us men and women so different. I, for one, believe that we should embrace and celebrate those differences. The phrase, "kicking butt for Jesus" has a nice ring to it, don't ya think? I like it. Now...about the hugs and holding hands...I DO like that stuff. I like the warm fuzzy, touchy-feelie, cry when you feel like it and not be ashamed stuff. However, I respect that each one of us is made different...no better no worse. What works for me does not necessarily work for you...and the other way around. Let's just love one another. (Does that sound too much like Kumbaya for you? ;-) GBU, Larry!

Sharon...not making myself a Nazi here, but I just am to the point that I'm either in or I'm not.  I don't want to do things half way anymore.  Not that I do, but with 5 kids, running a business and serving my family and friends, God takes the back seat more often than He should.  This is my way of moving to the passenger seat.

Alexander...I'll e-mail you privately, but thanks.  As we ebb and flow, I just need to get back to the flow in a purposed manner.

Elizabeth...I don't mind and occasional hug, but I think if I ever get the priveledge to meet you, I'll just tackle you.  That's kinda close isn't it????
