CITY OF OLATHE'S NEW YARD CART PROGRAM

By
Real Estate Agent with Kansas City Regional Homes

City of Olathe Offers a New Yard Cart Program

Are you tired of purchasing those paper yard waste bags?  Stuffing and squishing those bags to their maximum capacity and right before the pick-up day it pours rain and they get soaking wet.  You try to move them to the curb and the bag rips and you have to stuff and squish all over again.

GOOD NEWS!  THE City of Olathe is providing another choice for their waste disposal customers, "The Yard Cart".  The Yard Cart is not going to replace the traditional yard waste disposal methods, but is designed to enhance Olathe's waste disposal system.

Olathe's YARD CART holds approximately 330 lbs of yard waste, which is about six of your yard waste bags.  You can obtain a "YARD CART" from the City of Olathe for a one-time lease fee of $75, which is added to your solid waste bill after the cart is delivered to your home.   The "CARTS" remain the property of the City and is returned when you move or no longer desire to have the "CART".   You can contact the Olathe Municipal Services at 913.971.9344.

If you have just purchased your dream home or are getting ready to sell your Olathe home this CART sounds like a dream.  Getting your new cart will give you a good reason to clean those gutters, trim the yard and get all your fall clean up done!

Sounds like a good program.  We're using some of our yard waste (grass clippings) to make our own mulch.  You remind me it's time to cut the grass again.  Have a great day!

My wife and I just experienced the "wet bag" phenomenon when the last rain storm blew through a couple of weeks ago.  What a great idea!  I'll have to see if that's coming out to Shawnee.

Wish this was coming to Shawnee.  Kudos to Olathe for creating such a practical solution for our yard waste.
