Just a thought.....

How about if we bite off one element of quality blogging technique per week? Say, pictures/images one week. Then, formatting another week. Followed by content, etc.. Each member could share practical advice on what has worked from them....kinda of like 'collective mentoring or coaching.'

Any thoughts?

Rich, I think that would be a great way to do this.  That will allow us all time to accomplish something major weekly.

What would you suggest be our first technique?

Rich,

I think it's great that you are involved, I would have expected you to be an "official" coach.

I like your idea, I know that I for one tend to be all over the map when I am learning new web stuff; a plan with goals and objectives helps this old military mind stay organized.

For my two cents (a thought), I think we may want to start with physically setting up the blog, links and linking,  feeds and readers etc. (I noticed a Project Blogger Post about building back links ASAP).

I think I may be the odd one out here... but I think taking it down that simple might be just that.... too simple. There are lots of articles here on AR about how to add pictures, and how to form a text link. Can we combine the basics into one lesson?

Debi - I think we have to start off with basics. I am trying to see this whole thing through the eyes of our newest member. I am totally up for suggestions. This can go anywhere the collective group wants it to go, I just thought I would get the ball rolling. I envision this being somewhat of an online tutorial or sorts.

Phil - I think we'll get to that at some point. We want to begin with maximizing the tools and components of this platform first. My thought was to first cover what constitutes a good quality post and go from there.

Again, I am willing to add my input in whatever way would be most meaningful, and then to solicit other accomplished AR members to pipe in and share their input as well along the way.

Any other suggestions from you all?

Rich- Ok. I just thought if this is a 14 week project, taking it that basic, that slowly, might not get the results we all want. *shrugs* But what do I know. I'm still in. :0)

I didn't realize that we were under any time constraints here? Like we need that kind of pressure! Why not just go at our own pace, forget any kind of 14 week project deal?

One other thing....I wanted to get some input from the collective:

What aspects or topics relating to blogging does everyone want to cover?

And just so you know, as we go along, I will be developing some curriculum for use in a continuing ed course here in WA State.

Rich,

I hope you had a great Easter, first off.

I dont mind answering this and sounding really dumb.  I dont really understand what RSS, blogrolls, etc are.

I think promotion of the blogs will be a big plus as well.  I have some decent ideas on this, and as soon as my new blog is set up will be implementing them, I will be happy to share when we get to it.  Most of the ideas are nothing new, but they work :-)

I guess for me, its the technical stuff.

Not much of an answer, huh?
