Today was a typical busy Monday in so many ways. Phone calls, emails, people in and out of the office, etc. But this afternoon, I got to do something I haven't done for a long time...show property to REAL LIVE buyers!!!
A lovely couple relocating to my area called a couple of weeks ago. We've been phoning and emailing since, but today I met them for the first time. And, lo and behold, they want to buy a home here!
Not an investment property, not a flip property, not a killer deal on a foreclosure or short sale, just a regular house they will call home for quite a while. How refreshing! How unusual! Wow, I sort of forgot what this is like...!
Learning to adapt to changing market conditions is an unavoidable part of the work, and I think I've done my fair share of educating myself on short sales, foreclosures, declining markets, etc. I can honestly say that I've done my best to pass that education along to my clients. If I didn't love what I do, would I have even tried to figure this mortgage mess out?
Look, I'm all for helping everybody I can, no matter what their situation, but once in a while, its nice to be in my comfort zone again. Piling in the car to go see houses, comfortably chatting and getting to know each other...oh yeah, this is one of the things I LOVE about being a Realtor.
They asked me about neighborhoods, schools, shopping, what is planned for future development in our county. I knew the answers to these questions! I didn't have to warn them about banks who won't answer your phone call, properties where nothing would be fixed because there was no money and no homeowner... It was great!
This afternoon felt like "the good old days" of the not so distant past. And I'm going to enjoy it as long as I can!
