Americans More Tuned In Than Ever to Political News - New Gallup Poll

Gallup Poll - September 22, 2008

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- A record-high 43% of Americans say they follow news about national politics very closely, up from 30% at this time last year and 36% during the last presidential election.

I was encouraged to see today's Gallup Poll that reflected a renewed awarenes of National Politics. People need to be involved and need to participate in this important National Election.

As a democracy (where supreme power is held by the people under a free electoral system) it's every eligible voter's responsibility to ensure they are informed and involved in the process.

It was interesting to note that this awareness comes in the midst of an increased and continued distrust in the news media, specifically newspapers, television, and radio.

Hopefully this will prompt voters to research the candidates, study the issues and ultimately make an informed and objective decision when they cast their vote on November 4, 2008.

Stewart, wouldn't it be cool to have the electorate make informed choices?  Wow!

Evening, Stewart, Great post. I also see some other posts still distorting and smearing one of the candidates ! I suggest people include, as part of their research, frequent visits to this fact checking site: www.FactCheck.org

Voting and spending are really the only two tools Americans have in influencing politics and policy. I think these bailouts might represent a weakening of the spending tool. It is akin to giving free reign to companies to do what they like without worrying about how consumer spending reacts.

9/24/08 - Now McCain is threatening not to attend the Presidential Debate this Friday unless the $700 Billion Bailout Plan is passed.

What next? He's suggesting delaying the vice-presidential debate as well .....

The Republican Spin Machine is working overtime.
