Are you superstitious? Black cats and the number 13 are problems for some, but not for me. I have been even known to walk under a ladder in my time. Of course I always look up, isn't that what any sane person would do?
I don't carry a rabbit's foot, nor do I bury St. Christopher statues in the front lawn of my listings. Broken mirrors,
well I've broken my share, hummmm maybe that I need to review.
All of the above is silly superstition, of which I do not subscribe.
When it comes to real estate, well there are some things I do pay attention to.
- Never count your commission chickens before they hatch.
- Don't schedule showing appointments with new buyers just before lunch. If they can't wait until after lunch, there must be a rea$on why.
- If the property is u/c and you are listing agent, don't put up the "sold" sign, until the day after closing.
- When writing the ad, don't say "hurry, won't last" cause it will.
- Don't put off a vacation in lieu of working with a buyer. You'll miss your vacation and the buyer, won't buy.
For consumers
- If you decide to list with your friend, chances are you will lose your friend and keep your house.
- No matter how much your spouse says "it's ok to choose without me honey." Don't.
- Figure it's ok to look first then get pre-approved. That's s-d-r-a-w-k-c-a-b (backwards).
- Assume the transaction will work that same as it did back home in ......
Superstition may not be foolish, sometimes it's just good common sense.
