Prices to gut your flooded house are falling, market forces at work

The prices to gut your home has fallen by 50% in the past 8-10 months. The going rate was 1.50 per square foot but you can now get it done for .75 per sq. ft. You need to get this done for the sake of your neighbors who are trying to rebuild. FEMA will pick up the insides for free unitl the end of the year. So lets get it done before you are fined and then cry that you didnt know. If you are elderly or infirmed you can get a non-profit to help you. Unsitely weeds, debris, rats ect. are going to be old news come next year. St. Bernard, Jefferson,St. Tammany are serious. Orleans will also come along on their time also. Come on, time to greive is over so lets get back to work and be a good citizen. You can get your house demolished too if needed but let someone know now. Waiting on fema can be hazardous to your health.

I was shocked by the amount of clean up still left. Granted, it was dateline doing a story but still. I guess they have to have permission from the home owner before they can bulldoze and remove the debris. -Charles

Listening to your Needs
You are mainly looking at Orleans. 60% were renters. St. Bernard is even making progress which was 100% flooded. You forget people had no place to live for 6 months, no power, ect. If you wait for someone else it will never get done. Orleans will begin to catch up. Its leaderless and 100% democratic, lol
