Just Where IS Everett, Washington

We are a community located 25 miles N. of Seattle, situated on the Puget Sound to the West and extends to the I-5 corridor on the East (as the crow flies). We are home to Boeing, and host their building which is the largest covered building in the world.

We have a beautiful Everett Naval Station that is about 6 years old. It is home to the U. S. S. Abraham Lincoln and the U. S. S. Shoup. We have a booming economy, our downtown, thanks to our Mayor and County Executive, is being renovated, the parks are being spruced up, highways are being worked on and downtown Everett is finally GROWING UP. By that I mean, there are plans on the marina for a mixed use building that will support retail, commercial and high end water view condominiums.   In addition zoning requirements for the city will change to allow us to build "up" instead of "out".

Our County Executive, upon the urging of our local Association of Realtors, plans to use our real estate excise tax (commonly known as REET) to pay for future infastructure so we can have affordable housing in Snohomish County. We want our residents to live in the neighborhoods in which they work.  The Govenor is also appointing a task force of which our State Association (Washington Association of Realtors) will be a part of, identifying the housing crisis in Washington and will take steps to address this issue.

We are a neighboring community of Mukilteo, a city that borders the water, Marysville, a city five miles North of us and Lake Stevens, across the Snohomish Valley by three miles.

As President-Elect 2007 for the Snohomish County Camano Association of Realtors®, I am proud to call Everett my home. We hope you will too. We welcome anyone interested in settling here. Oh, and don't believe all the stories you hear about out rain.  The weather is wonderful!

Did I read you correctly that we shouldn't believe all we read about Seattle area being rainy?

I guess it depends on whether Everett is nearer to Seattle or to Quillayute, WA

Seattle was #125 based on the US national weather services 30 year average annual rainfall. Quillayute was #1 if you take out ALASKA.

Ken, we do have rain and lots of it. However, you get used to the climate. Many days we just have a sprinkle, others, especially winter, we can go for 60 days of rain straight. It's all about the attitude. The countryside is beautiful, the mountains breathtaking and the ocean, wow. So the rain really doesn't bother me.

Hey, I was surprised Seattle was 126th. That's much lower than I thought. I actually have family in Seattle and on Whidby Island so I know how beautiful the area is.
