WARNING Polybutylene Plumbing - Poly Pipe - PB Pipe WARNING

By

I would never recommend to anyone to buy a home with Polybutylene Plumbing! Unfortunately I know this through personal experience! You must see attached photos to believe it! A picture is worth a thousand words!

I found out the hard way and learned through first hand experience. The Home Inspector (that I used when we bought our home) told us that it looked like it had been replumbed with copper. Well, it had, but only part of it. Not the important part in the ceilings. I am posting photos of the disaster that can happen if you have a polybutylene pipe crack, split, or burst inside of your home. BEWARE! My home currently looks like a disaster area!

Lorrie,

My sympathy, hope your insurance covers the repairs and drying out. I'm assuming that's the gray pipe in the photos, how can we tell if it's in the home? Copper prices are through the roof, I'm sure more will be using it now.

Gary,

Thanks!

I was just viewing some of the other Blogs on the subject of Polybutylene. There are some other Blogs that I would recommend since they are very informative and can answer all your questions. Just search all the Blogs using the keyword Polybutylene.

Lorrie-

Wow, amazing pictures. I would be LIVID. Hoping your insurance company makes sure the repairs are done properly and that you never have to go through anything like this again. Good post : )

Nice pictures.  I'll keep this post for the people with polybutylene who deny that there is a problem with it.
