We're so proud and happy to have Rich and Brad involved with REBarcamp Houston. This post started out as a response to Rich's AR post, it grew a little too long for a comment. There were some great comments and good questions so I thought I would take the opportunity to expand a bit more on the concept of a BarCamp. It's a grass roots effort and the content is actually created and delivered by those in attendance. We start out in the morning by allowing attendees to pick the topics. You may choose to lead a topic, or you might pick one that you want to know more about. We split off into sessions througout the day. BarCamps have been held all over the world for the past few years. Recently people have been applying the concept to specific verticals. The first Real Estate Bar Camp was held in San Francisco recently and it was an overwhelming success.
It's not just about technology. If you want to know more about emerging business models, recruiting, retention, or anything, you have the opportunity to bring it up as a topic and learn from those in attendance that have knowledge on the subject. There are many people coming in from other areas of the country that are eager to share. It's a great opportunity for anyone in the real estate industry to get access to information that you will be able to take action on the minute you leave.
We should be making the location announcement for the event tomorrow.
What do we need to help make it a success? We need you to spread the word to the real estate professionals in the Houston area. We also need some more sponsors. In keeping with the grass roots rules of Barcamp, all sponsors at the same level of only $250. If you are interested in sponsoring, please email me at mprice@mlbroadcast.com or call me at 832 331 4846.
Again, thanks to Rich, Brad and Active Rain for getting behind REBarcamp Houston
PS: Houston Area Brokers, if you would like me or one of the local REBarcamp organizers to come by and speak to your agents about the event, let us know, we plan on hitting the road over the next few weeks to spread the word.
