House Agrees to flood insurance extension!

By
Real Estate Sales Representative with Realty Executives Gulf Coast

"HOUSE AGREES TO FLOOD INSURANCE EXTENSION" Yes, that was the alarming headline in today's paper here in the coastal area of Alabama.  Yesterday's news said it was about to expire. What that would mean is the 5.5 million homeowners with flood insurance policies, including 55,200 of them in Alabama, would be allowed to lapse. This is quite alarming since so many my market area would be affected by this. According to the article, a 7 month extension of the program has passed the House but still needs Senate passage for these policies to continue to be re-written. I realize our governement is kind of busy with some other pressing issues regarding billions of dollars, but let's hope they come back around to flood insurance. I know my clients and friends in Gulf Shores, Orange Beach and the Fort Morgan area are sitting on pins and needles. We shall see what happens next.....
