Active Rain is REIGNING Real Estate Site

By
Real Estate Agent with Real Estate Professionals

What a difference a couple of years makes! Real Estate might be local, but Active Rain seems to be THE  LOCALE!  Forever ago, I stumbled upon the site.  It was in the developing neighborhood, not yet well landscaped, but with potential.  As a new Realtor I didn't know much and just dashed off an inquiry as to how Realtors in different areas dressed. The real estate world has surely changed! So has Active Rain. The neighborhood has developed into PARK PLACE! Sometimes revisiting a neighborhood changes your mind about choosing a home there. There is new growth, diversity, different perspective, original ideas, a solid foundation, a place where ideas can be expressed and considered. It's a good feeling....kind of like what I'm experiencing on Active Rain today! I am looking forward to reading, learning, and contributing! Babs

What I hate worse are agents that don't change their photo and it looks like it's from the senior prom. Remember, to update your photo and your business card. Humm, maybe I'll blog about that.

I have seen some really old photos on cards from realtors, They are 10 years older than the picture.

You dress to meet your market, locale and clients--with perhaps  a button or two more closed--and no contradictions between the agent and the business card portrait,

Yesterday I went into the office in my workout clothes. I wasn't meeting a client. I would never meet a client dressed any other way than in business casual attire. I once wore blue jeans but a nice shirt to meet a client. Her father was there & made a comment to her. She passed it along to me. I never wore blue jeans to work again (when I was meeting a client).

Heh Bab's I added you to my associates because you are an e-PRO and I am too. In response to your blog post. I teach Real estate and I spent last year in South Florida teaching. After a few months it got so bad that I couldn't go anywhere without running into REALTORS who had been in a class with me, so I gave up and "dressed" every day. It just is easier to start off that way then to stop in the middle of a busy day and have to take time away for showers and makeup and such! See? I believe that all of our goals are to be noticed and by branding, remembered and recognized. If you expect to get that kind of attention then your casual has to be something to be proud of.  When I drop my daughter at school I let her off in the circle early so that all I have to deal with is the head shot. Hair is groomed and shirt is acceptable even if I have my sweat pants on I look the way I want to look, to represent who I want people to see me as: professional.  I have the added pressure of being the VP of Ways and means this year so by the time I am picking my daughter up from school I am fully groomed top to toes! My husband grumbles sometimes, but it is a matter of presentation and he won't go to a business meeting in jeans, even in TX unless he has known the people and considers them friends.

If I was selling ranches that would be different! The boots and jeans would come out for sure.  In South Florida it was more an issue of colors co-ordinating not "professional attire."  Remember this, our boomer group still isn't so fond of the multiple piercings. They enjoy people who think like they do so we are fine for awhile yet and by the time they have all been settled into new housing I might be ready to paint my hair blue, well at least tint it blue! and maybe add one more earring! In my ear! HA! Just my two cents!
