Spotlight On Local Business
As Greenville continues to grow, the local business owners, sometimes referred to as "Small Business, The Little Man", see more and more franchisees overtake the majority of products and services offered to the public. However, some of the best service is still provided in the local shops of the old days. This point proves true in this week's "Spotlight on Local Business". Johnny Weathington, owner of El Toro Barber & Style has been in service for over 40 years, cutting local mens' hair since 1967. Yet today, more than ever, you can truly appreciate small town service like he provides. From the moment you walk in the door it reminds you of what a barbershop is suppose to be like. From the old spinning barber lantern to the many professional men talking about local sports and politics, it's a place to come and relax and network. Mr. Weathington has a plethora of knowledge - not just about cutting hair, but also about anything and everything going on in Greenville. He hears it all and has quite an opinion - he'll make that known once you're in his chair. El Toro has recently went through some changes as well. For the past 25 years, it has served as one of the most highly decorated ECU shrines available. From the coaches photos of every sport the University played, to memorabilia such as t-shirts and hats to license plates and posters, ECU has been a focus of this barber shop. Mr. Weathington knows that it's ECU that put Greenville on the map and he appreciates the business its given him throughout the years. However, as things often change - there is no exception here. El Toro has recently remodeled and installed new amenities such as accent paint, new flooring and a pool table - play while you wait! Some of the sports theme has left - yet some subtle reminders are still around. One thing that has not changed is the excellent haircuts and the small town service. You owe it to yourself to check it out! Let's face it, any service, especially one like a haircut (that can make you feel like a million dollars) is a steal at less than $10. In today's market - you barely can get a big mac and fry for that!
