There seems to be a lot of different views on how to charge for personal inventory.

Rule of thumb I use  25% of retail price (not the bargain sales price).

To simplify, I enter retail price, then to the right enter what % the rent would be. The rental rate is already figured and saves me reinventiny the wheel each time I need the piece.

Since we stagers are "creative geniuses" I oten group several items for the same room.  Then lump the price.  I never itimize the amount they are paying for each article on the clients invoice (causes concern).  Therefore, I might list:  Mstr Ba, 2 towel sets (mauve and blue) 1 floral (mauve, rose,blue), spa basket (list contents), picture (floral) etc. then list one price for the entire room.  Continue with each room, kit, liv etc.

Patti, I like the 25% idea - that was what I am thinking about but was afraid the total room prices would be too high and scare people.  What is your approximate average price per room?

Patti, Is that 25% for one month or for the length of the contract? Or do you have some set amount of time like two months?

Wow I would love to charge 25% of retail for my inventory!   I've been getting only 15% of the bargain basement prices I paid for it -- in my market people are just not willing to pay the higher monthly cost.  How do you convince them to -- any secrets you can share?  Thanks for any tips.....
