Over the last few weeks the media has blasted us with gloom and doom. Although I have tried to limit my exposure to all the negativity, it is a fine line between being oblivious to todays challenges (head in the sand) and being enlightened and informed.
In my true "Scarlett O'Hara" role, I decided that I needed to "worry about that tomorrow". My personal way of balancing is to have an imaginary box that sits in my closet (mind) that has addressed all of the "what ifs". Once it has been filled and the lid replaced, I move forward and can just concentrate on doing one thing at a time (trying hard), doing it well, and moving slowly (not easy for a Type A) forward.
The other evening I had a light bulb moment. It was after an insidious media infiltration of my mind that caused an interrupted night's sleep. I had just reviewed the contents of my imaginary box and my "aha moment" presented itself....Real Estate is a "people" business. To keep it going you need to be out with the people, addressing their concerns, calming the panic attacks, being their advocate, doing the same job we all have been doing in previous markets. Those who have been prudent with their expenditures, responsible with their earnings, and wise with their investments realize that this is a great time to purchase real estate and they are looking, but we need to be where they can find us!
