Guess who's going to show up for McCain at the debate tomorrow?

Being the "maverick" he is, I think it's possible that he's up to something.

Wouldn't it be hilarious if Palin showed up for McCain at the debate. I know Obama would lose it, but I think it'd be hilarious.  There is so much debate about her stepping up to the plate and being a heartbeat away from the presidency. It'd be interesting to see her do it at the debate.

On a serious note, this bailout is a serious issue.  It's time for both candidates to step up to the plate and man up,act presidential and offer some solutions.  They should both be staying in Washington to figure this out.  There needs to be resolution on this matter ASAP.  President Bush has invited them both to participate to get input since one of them will be handling the mess in its aftermath.  If there is not an agreement reached, whichever candidate/party wins the election should not complain since they had the opportunity to participate in coming up with a solution.

While I'm not crazy about the bailout since I'm all for the free market system and think the banks should wallow in their own mess; I think this bailout is necessary to show the world, as Bill OReily said, that we will not let our economy fail.

Michele,

I am with you on this.  Obama is just being stubborn.  He is making himself look bad, I think.

You really think the hacks in D.C. will be working at 9pm on a Friday night? We deserve a debate. Let them work all day and fly in their private jets down to the debate; no problem-o

The legislators definitely don't work work at 9 pm.  Let's see a debate.  Like Obama says you need to be able to handle more than one crisis at one time.  Maybe he is afraid of the debate.

LOL, remember the line in "Pretty Woman" that was translated into "Pirates of Penzance?"  Translate it back again and that is what O would do. :)

My bad.

Michele,  If it was any other topic than foriegn affairs I would say it would be great to see her step in for McCain.  Obama would be dumdfounded and would stumble all over the place.

Michele- This is the most ridiculous bail out and an insider deal. It will disastrous to our economy. President Bush is getting bad advise. Free markets should be allowed to work. We need a cleansing. We need to be proactive in our own personal economics and people need to stop expecting handouts.

Every single person that I have talked to about this does NOT want this bailout. Why are they not listening to us. It is not as Obama says, our responsibility to keep big companies afloat. What about all the small businesses in the US like us and you. Who goes to bat for us? We pay our taxes.

Next, I want Dodd and Obama and everyone else on the donation list to give that money back to the taxpayers that was given to them by Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae and Lehman!

If we had drilled 10 years ago when congress would not let us, we would not be in this position now!

I think McCain is doing the right thing. Our economy is in trouble and we need to get it straightened out.

I'm unsure on McCains decision. It looks to be a honorable one definately, but maybe not the smartest. I think Obama made some waves with the " handling more than one thing at a time" line. I think he could squeeze it in myself. It's not like he's flying in from another country. I hope he decides to show up myself. He really can do both I think.

I agree that it would be hilarious if Palin stood in for McCain tomorrow night for the debate, but I honestly don't see it happening.  But it would definitely be funny.

This may sound harsh, but we as a country either believe in a Free Market or we don't.  We can't just say we think it should be free in the good times and look toward government bailout in the bad times.  I don't have the answer for the problem but over the last 100 years we as a country have been gradually setting small precedents that has led us further away from the free market economy and closer to a socialistic, and even fascist economy.  You and I should not have to pay for the mistakes of big wig bankers and their cronies on wall street.  Trust me, these guys are not coming to your rescue if you need help.

On the other hand, I do agree that as Senators, McCain and Obama should be more actively involved in finding a solution that affects our economy.  After all, Congress does have the power of the purse.

Well, I really didn't think Palin would stand in, just thought it would be hilarious if she walked out on stage and tossed up things a little.  Democrats have the majority right? So why are they blaming the GOP for holding up the progress.  Don't get me wrong. I see the need for partisan agreement here, but since they have the majority, they could push the final resolution though.  I actually think the Democrats are fearful to push this through because if it doesn't work, they will look bad and lose the election.  I'm not sure if this is a power play on whose part.  Regardless, they need to work together and find other solutions since 44% of Americans are NOT in favor of the bailout. I don't know what the answer is either.

John and Russ-It sounds like they are working around the clock on this.  The good news is that McCain is headed to Miss. There's word that hopefully an agreement will be reached by midnight tonight.

Katerina & Michael-I agree. We need to let the free market system work.  There is a lot of fear out there on what if...and the stock market crashes, if we are going to reenter the depression, if, if, if....  Michael- you bring up a good point that we do seem to be moving towards a socialist economy and that is problematic.  That is scary in and of itself.

If the boat is sinking, it should be all hands on deck. As much as I believe in checks and balances and a two-party system, sometimes having too much adversity and contention results in grid-lock.

Love debates....it's amazing how much it reveals about the protagonists. Certain mannerisms could doom or hamper a candidate, however. Remember Gore's eye-rolling and heavy sighs and moving away from his lectern towards Bush while Bush was speaking? Big no-no's.

I couldn't agree more!

I watched the debates this last week and thought they were very interesting. I think both candidates had some good points. One thing I was disappointed about what that when asked a question, it seemed both Obama and McCain skirted around the questions. They told what they wanted to say to the American people (the stuff the rehearsed beforehand) but they didn't really address the questions at hand. I want REAL answers, not some practiced pieces.

I want America to go back to it's golden days! Let's really stick it to these canididates and get some answers to the problems we are facing!

Thanks for sharing, Nicole Weidauer
