Preparing for Fall or Christmas

I have been working with a seller that wants to list his home in the upcoming spring.  So I have given a list of projects to get his home ready to sell.  One of the projects was to get his lawn ready for the spring.  I told him to get some fertilizer and winterize his lawn.  On one of my follow up calls with him, he told me he had gone to Lowe's to pick up the fertilizer.  When he got to Lowe's he went to the seasonal section and found Christmas items instead of the normal Fall or even Halloween items.  He was able to find the fertilizer out in the Garden Section.

I was just in disbelief that stores are already preparing us for the Christmas holidays.  I saw on the news that the idea is that you will be thinking about Christmas earlier this year so hopefully you will buy more.  The projections for the amount of spending that us consumers will do is down.  So the retailers are hoping that starting early will stimulate us consumers more.

I am not buying it.  Of course, I do 99% of my shopping online.

Christmas at the retailers used to start the day after Thanksgiving.  Now, before we even end September.  Personally, I now longer go on buying binges for Christmas -- online or otherwise.  If I need something I just wait until AFTER Christmas is done and go hunting for what I need. ~ Evelyn
