What Life is all about....my past weekend!

My wife and I just finished building a new home last week.  My wife asked if we could move into it this past week.  I said no way.  You see, we had spent almost one entire year building this home.  It's takeing a lot of money, but most importantly, it's taking a lot of itme.  We have 5 kids and 1 niece who life's became intermingled with a lot of time being spent with our builder.

Sooooo, this past weekend, we went to our farm in Wisconsin.  We have a farm that's really been converted to a nature conservancy.  I told my wife no moving....I just want to be a family again for a week.  Here's what we did;

NOTHING....except

1)  Dine out at the all you can eat Pizza Ranch in Oostburg Wisconsin (famously known as the town where Screech from Saved by the Bell lives.

2)  Next day stopped by my brother's house as a surprise....he wasn't in.

3)  Had lunch and went swimming and played beach football on the beach in Sheboygan Wisconsin;

4)  Took the kids to an old fashion dime and candy store...they each got 1 piece;

5)  Went to church saturday night....it was awesome...I wish that church was in my hometown;

6)  Ate out back at the farm and rode the 4 wheelers with the kids;

7)  Built a big fire and told camping stories around the campfire;

8)  Cleaned up this am and came home

Can't say that I conquered the wrold, but I can say that I conquered the family.  My kids keep saying that I'm the best dad in the whole world....the 14 month doesn't, but then again she can't talk.  I loved life this weekend.  I feel that we bonded as a family.  Now it's time for prayers and off to bed.  Back in the saddle tomorrow.

Larry~ Nothing beats spending quality time with your family.  You know they are only little for a short period of time, and time passes so quickly!  Enjoy them!

Larry.... sounds like a good relaxing time. Don't you wish it could have lasted for about another 3 to 5 days?  I have been on that so-called beach in Sheboygan....  I know I definitely will be up in Whisky in 2 years for a reunion. Hopefully before that though. A good chance would be to going to the Phillies/Cubs game... if they both make it that far. And the campfire stories... I had an uncle that lived in or near Sheboygan.... large back yard and farm with a pit....  anyhoo...sounds like a good time and with family.

Hey, Larry -

Sometimes, you need to kick back - no sin in that!

Funny how doing just that recharges you for weeks - and how working like a dog with out a break burns you out even quicker.

Keep time blocking, my friend.  You and your family will be in the new house before you know it.

Stop over anytime you're in the city, or nearby, or run into anyone who needs help down here!

Larry, that is life. I feel the same way. I like this part: stop by your brother's and he was not in.

I'm so jealous-you had a wonderful exciting weekend and I spent mine with a bunch of old classmates at my high school reunion. Seriously though, you are right-you have to work hard and play hard to make this crazy thing called life worth it all. I tell my husband all the time that sometimes you just have to "escape" your troubles and the stress of real life. After reading this blog, I think I'm ready for a day hiking in the NC mountains-time to close the pool and concentrate on sweater weather. Besides, I feel young again after reliving my high school days this past weekend. Honestly after the reunion (which was my 20th by the way) I feel pretty good about myself even if my career choice is not at the top of the most glamorous list right now. Ah, it's good to go back and remember how dumb you really were at 18! Thanks again for the refresing blog entry!!
