Voice Mail Rant

By
Real Estate Agent with Century 21 New Millennium

Okay all you fellow agents -

Why do you have voice mail if you aren't going to bother responding to my call and message? I try to be direct, and leave a short message. You, however, want to tell me in several languages that my call is important to you and that I only need to leave a name and number and you will get right back to me. Sometimes, I have to call several times or places, like your home or office, maybe I have to call your broker. But I am determined to track you down!!  You see, I have a client that needs information to perhaps make AN OFFER on your listing. We are all busy, as you had to tell me when I finally got you on the phone, but that is not a good excuse.

Now all my fellow agents that answer on the second ring and talk to me, I say  THANK YOU!! It was a pleasure....

Rant done.

Renee, I can not believe no one commented on this. I totally agree with you this is so unprofessional, plus it takes potentially money away from you as well. Between, not responding to VM, as you saw not responding to e-mail, how do some of these agents/brokers make deals and money is beyond me.

Endre, Thanks for your response. I am flabbergasted when agents don't answer their cell phone. Today I will have to call an agent again that failed to respond to a plea for feedback. I know this is a low priority for some agents but in this market I cannot believe they don't have 5 to tell me their client hated my listing !! Does business fall in their laps?
