Clients, Please Check With Me, Your Realtor, First!

Real Estate Broker/Owner with Fran Rokicki Realty, LLC

I had a client call and let me know that she was getting estimates for her Father's home.  We want to list it for sale, soon, and we thought we should have a new roof installed first.  Just thought I would call and make sure it was the right thing for us to do, was the message on my voicemail this morning.  I couldn't call her back fast enough.  Wish I had her on speed dial!

Here's the thing.  The roof is not five years old yet.  I knew this because I had sold her Father that home.  Jeepers!  I couldn't wait to find out how this came about.  Was it a flyer in the mailbox?  Did someone stop by and offer their services?  My mind was racing with reasons why this woman thought that this house needed a new roof!

Called her back.  Not home.  Not answering the cellphone.  I'll be patient, left my messages and I will just take a deep breath and wait for her to return my call. An hour goes by, phone rings.  Yeah!  It is her.  Apparently, someone had stopped by her Father's home and suggested that they would offer him a free estimate for a new roof.  They didn't really say he needed one.  Of course not, he doesn't!  I calmly suggested that we keep the name of the contractor for future reference, but, at this time, I did not see the need for the free estimate.  Roofs, typically, last longer than 5 years.  Unless there was some unforeseen circumstance, tree falling on the house, etc.  There was not in this case.  No recall on the shingles, like there was many years ago.  So, we put out that fire.

Thank goodness, she called me.  She told me that she remembered my workshop events.  I host these events during the year for my clients.  I bring in vendors who are professionals in their given fields.  They answer questions, let my clients know about recalls or new products.  Whether it be a real estate question or just a concern with your home, like this woman had about her Father's roof, please be sure to call me and discuss what it is you are considering to do.  If I don't know the answer, I will be sure to find a good professional that I know who will be happy to contact and assist you.  It may save you time, energy, money and more!  Let me be your trusted advisor!  Be sure to visit my website to check out the best professionals that I recommend on my Business Referral Directory.  www.FranRokicki.IsAnExpert.com or http://www.bccontrolcenter.com/launcher.aspx?ID=2345

Sounds like your seminars are a great service to your clients.  Congratulations on saving your client all that money on somethign that would be unnecessary.  So many people will get the free estimate and think just because the contractor wrote an estimate they need to have the work done.  Glad you could step in with your knowledge of the house.

Good save!  It's great to see that you are taking such good care of your clients.  Not everyone would have acted as you did - or as quickly.
