With today's financial market, a lot of people are facing foreclosures, unemployment, and bankrupties. There have always been a few basics rules that I've followed in my real estate and mortgage career.
I've had the power of 3-D working for me and this is how it looks:
I have 3 professions that I can rely on in order to make money. 1) Consultant for Microsoft technologies 2) Real Estate Broker 3) Mortgage Loan Originator. I love doing all of my jobs. Fortunately for me I've paid my house off years ago along with my car, so I'm not facing foreclosure like a number of people out there.
Diversifying your skills only makes you a more valuable person no matter what career you choose. As long as you LOVE what you do, like me, then there's nothing or no one that can hold you back.
Challange yourself to the task of self improvement. If you don't do it, then no one else will do it for you.
I will end this post by telling you about an email I just received. One of my co-workers who is 58 years old has been with my consulting company for years and years. He was planning on retiring from the company. Last week someone came to his desk and informed him that his services were no longer needed. He lost his health insurance and he lost the luxury of retiring from a company he put his whole life into. Now he's trying to find work in the IT industry but its an up hill battle because of his "circumstances". I had seen this exact senario happen at the start of my career. I realized early that if a company would treat a dedicated employee that way, then guess how they would they treat me?
