I took these photographs on a "AAA" - Altitude Attitude Adjustment" trip through Colorado's high country. We traveled from Woodland Park to Estes Park, Colorado, then through the Rocky Mountain National Forest, up over the Continental Divide, and down into Grand Lake. A visit to Cottonwood Lake the following day was gorgeous, as well.

Lovely. We have been so warm here (Payson, AZ- 5,000 ft) that the leaves are barely starting. But we were at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon yesterday, and the aspens are gorgeous there.

And I sympathize about the beetles. We've lost a lot of trees around here, also.

Leslie- Grand Canyon! Talk about views! Bet that was terrific. Yes, the beetle problem is serious. I was shocked at the loss in Grand County. It's not so bad here in Woodland Park, minimal. I feel awful for the folks over there, tho. Winter Park ski resort is in that area, and I wonder how this might begin to affect their business...

Allen- Glad you enjoyed the photos! Did you ski when you were out in February? That's pretty much the only reason to vacation here in February ;) If you ever come in the fall, be sure to plan a trip to the Rocky Mountain National Forest to see the elk. Absolutely incredible!
