The Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Arts museum is celebrating its fifth birthday on Sunday, October 5, 2008 from 1-4 p.m. The party is free so come and have some fun!!!
There will be art, activities, music and family fun. The theme is "Art In Motion" with an emphasis on sports activities in collaboration with the museum's fall exhibition, "Visions of Victory: A Century of Sports Photography" and Alabama Tourism's 2008 Year of Alabama Sports. Events around the museum and grounds will connect the past 100 years of sports photography with art, science and movement. Children and young adults will have the chance to run races, explore drawing, look at cameras and to curate their own mini-exhibition. Events are designed for each age level and with relationships to elementary curriculum in a fun, meaningful way. In addition, participants may try their hand at print and papermaking with internationally recognized printing press artist Amos Paul Kennedy Jr. Live music will be provided by the Saugahatchee Ramblers. For more information, contact the museum at 844-1484.
My daughter and I have enjoyed this event each year we have attended.

It is truly a wonderful event for the entire family.
