I thought it fitting to publicly thank both Remax International and Buffini & Co. for not cancelling the recent Remax Team Leader Summit in Las Vegas. With such a volitale market, many team leaders decided to cut costs and not attend this year. The turnout, I understand, was less than 200 vs. over 1300 last year. Both Remax and business coach Brian Buffini took a huge loss to conduct the event.
In tough times, most business owners look to cut costs wherever they can. I undersatnd that philosophy as a business owner myself. One area that I just feel cannot be cut is in self-investment. This summit was my first as a team leader in real estate. I was looking forward to it since I signed up in March. I would have understood had Remax and Brian Buffini decided to cancel the event since word has it they took losses over $100,000 due to the low attendance. Instead, they decided the COMMITMENT they made to their agents, clients, and potential clients was more important than the monetary loss.
Commitment, to me, is as valuable a personal and business trait as there is. It becomes part of the fabric of your reputation. It is the foundation of trust which is so very valuable in business today. My commitment to Remax now is stronger than ever because of their commitment to me. Brian Buffini just got a new coaching client (and his referral based systems are really something amazing for really any sales field) because of his commitment to our event. I came back all jazzed up ready to attack the fourth quarter of 2008!
I really am not trying to pump up my broker or my new coach. I just feel it needs to be said by someone other than them (and they wouldn't say it themselves anyway) how rare their actions are in this world and especially in this turbulent economic time. Their commitment is appreciated and a symbol of their way of business.
