NAHREP Convention: Meeting AR Members
It feels like ages since I have attended to my blog. The last week has been exasperating for me. Last Wednesday I spent half the day in the ER after the first half was spent in agonizing pain. It turns out I had an infection for quite a while which explains my grogginess for the past few weeks.
After being placed on antibiotics and resting for a few days, I went into the weekend attending the NAHREP convention in Phoenix, AZ. NAHREP is the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals.
I joined NAHREP a little over a week age after speaking with Victor Montalvo, fellow AR member, a few times. Victor is the Austin, TX chapter President and had emailed me a few weeks ago about the organization which I had never heard of before.
At the convention I met quite a few people from all over our great nation who are passionate about the organization. I have hopes of one day opening a chapter in my area and am currently a member of the Phoenix, AZ chapter.
The convention was a lot of fun and I learned some things, but the best part was meeting fellow AR's, Victor and also Brian Requarth who founded the group The National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals on AR. It is always nice to meet the people we speak to on the Internet...to match the face to the picture on the screen.
NAHREP is all about empowering the real estate professionals that serve the Hispanic community to enable Hispanic clients to purchase sustainable housing. I was immediately drawn to the organization once Victor explained to me that speaking Spanish is not necessary. While I do speak some Spanish, I don't believe I speak enough to assist clients with contracts. NAHREP teaches agents how to handle Spanish speaking clients. NAHREP provides tools like manuals for real estate terminology, translators, a new web site designed for the Hispanic market and many others.
I am proud to be a member of NAHREP and I glad to have met Victor through AR.

What is the moral of my story? Blogging actually works! By being in the community actively involved I have now learned about a very important organization and I'm actually involved in that organization because of AR! Being in a largely Hispanic area I am excited about the organization and the significant improvement it could make for real estate professionals and clients in my area.
