Hi everyone, don't you think that it is so important to pay attention to what we are listening to. The skill of selective listening is something that I was taught about three years ago and it also helps with time management. Don't spend most of your time on voices that don't count, voices that are going to add little or no worth to your future. Tune those voices out and tune in the voices that are going to add something to your life. Listen and let the views of others educate and inform you, but let your decisions be a product of your own conclusions. Hope that you all have a great day.
Amen, I say this every day. I don't live for the TV and what the talking heads are saying. Their reality is not mine. I am a classic example of "I live in my own world and they know me here". So far it has been working for me. Good for you to not listen to the negative.
I agree totally with Audrey and I don't have time to even watch the BOOB TUBE as my late grandmother used to call it...
Scott - you make an excellent point about what we listen to - as it can influence your feelings. I like to come here on the Rain and read positive comments and articles which can be so uplifting!
Oh my gosh. This is so relevant to me. I just got my teenager to stop listening to that Death Metal stuff....I have been working on him for a couple of years and he finally agreed with me that it is bad and stopped listening to it!
Hey Scott,
What a great message. With so much noise in the world, we must be our own filter. Actually, more than that we must seek out the positive messages that will pull us in the right direction.
Thanks for providing one of those messages.
Take care, Laurie
I agree completely with what you said. With being a new agent in the Georgia market it seems like all I get sometimes is negative comments. But, I wanted to share a article I read the other day that I felt was really inspiring and made me feel good about our market and the real estate industry. The link is http://brokeragentpro.com/viewArticle.html?ArticleID=1558. Happy reading!!!
Thanks for sharing that article Danielle. The power of suggestion falls upon the same line and you should pick and choose suggestions to let in. Thanks for the comment and have a great day.
My mother practices selective listening but only with me, it seems. LOL
What you posted is very critical to political decisions. My Partner and I participate in all political parties rather than just one. After all, if we were only, say, Democrats and participated there, we would lose out on viable views of about 50% of America. We're both guys, so if we ignored the voices of women, we'd miss out on 50% of America there. Etc., etc., etc. We like to listen to all viewpoints, analyze those viewpoints rather than listening to soundbites, and then make the best decision based on the best information that was available at the time we had to make the decision.
