Stock Market vs Housing Market

Real Estate Agent with Real Living Wareck D'Ostilio Real Estate

At 9:30 I went to CNN.COM to check the headlines and saw that the stock market was down 204 points. I refreshed at 10:15 and the market dropped another 100 points. Now, at 11:00 it's down 497 points. I sit hear and listen to other Real Estate agents doom and gloom and can't help but point something out:

When the market tanked like this in the early 2000's, the housing market was skyrocketing out of sight... and continued to do so until 2005. When the stock market was recovering, the housing market started to come to a screeching halt. Now, the stock market is falling again, interest rates are still low (yes, people with good credit and a down payment still can EASILY obtain a mortgage) and housing prices are back to where they were in 2004. Isn't it time people start taking advantage of this situation?

The stock market and housing market are not intertwined like everyone likes to believe. Now is not a good time to invest in stocks, but it is a good time to invest in houses!
