This morning, a fellow associate came in my office and offered to help with some new forms I was working on, unsuccessfully I might add. She said, hey, I can help you with these, and then you can help me with that website stuff that you offered to help me on. Just that simple. You want to sit down, we'll do your stuff, then we can do mine? Sure, you bet ya! It was great, that's how we get things done! How simple, how productive.
Then I went to the grocery store to pick some things up during my lunch, and the check out person was texting away on her cell phone not helping out anybody but herself, while the woman in front of me struggled with the debit card machine and the line got longer, and people got grumperier, only to take it out on the check out person. That check out person wasn't getting much of anything done, except maybe planning her next movie night. Helping people out, helps yourself too, I wish she could have been in my office this morning...
