Is it okay to climb a tree on someone else's property?

We have a lot of pine trees here in San Diego since Torrey Pines State Reserve is one only two places in the world where the Torrey Pine grows. The other is an island off the coast of California. Although pine trees will grow here, they really need more water than what Mother and Father Nature provide us. Consequently, they rarely grow to any significant size and certainly are not unique in any way; they are just pine trees.

Except for this one:

I tried to get some other pictures, but this was in an older neighborhood of smaller homes on smaller lots, so there was no good vantage point. I just thought the tree was beautiful, so I took a picture of it. I even wanted to climb it, and even might have if my Clients had not been with me and if there had been any way to get up to those first branches there. Maybe I'll go back and preview this property when my ladder is in the trunk. LOL

If the trees are rare, use it as a selling point!  A great example of external asthetics, and a great reason to settle on a small lothe botantist buyers.

Hi Jim,

After reading your warning, I'm a little afraid to comment.  All I'll say is "cool tree".

Take care.

Nice tree.  We have great climbing trees here in the midwest and I spend more time in the summer helping my children out of the trees than anything.  Glad you enjoyed the tree and hopefully you'll get to climb it at some point.

Jim,

From where I live, we have tall pines all over our yard. Some of them are a threat to falling on the house. We had to cut some down.

Others are in the back of our property. Pines have such a weak root structure, too many of them can be dangerous

Wow.  That is rather odd.  Looks a tad dangerous though to climb!  KM

I haven't climbed a tree since I was a kid. Don't pine trees have soft wood that is easy to break?

No tree climbing with clients around.  Go after, just my suggestion...

Hi Jim, I'm with Ann Allen. Do post a picture of you in that tree. The things we wish we can do, and it has to happen when we are with clients. You probably got a good eye.

If you think that's tough to climb, try a palm tree! Keep planting and Keep America Green. Thanks for sharing and Greetings from Paradise.

Jim I love the photos and I would love to climb that tree, however, I might need help trying to get down. Looks a little higher than the ones I used to climb.

Once you get to the first limbs it looks like it might be easy.

Yes, you'll be covered under their homeowners insurance policy if you fall off and hurt yourself.  Just hope they're current on their premium.
