The September issue of the California Real Estate Magazine was filled with many "Green Issues."  For starters, we, the agents, can improve by starting to help the environment at our office/business.  Here is Part I, 10 Tips & Ways to Go Green.

1.  Reduce, recycle, reuse - put a blue bin to recycle paper. Rescue paper for copying.

2.  Turn off the computer - According to Wall St. Journal, estimated that American business can save $1.72 billion each year by getting employees to turn off computers at night or put on energy saving mode.

3.  Install Organic Carpet - Synthetic carpets use chemicals, whereas organic fibers are grown without synthetic chemicals.

4.  Donate Food Leftover - CEO of Oakland Association of Realtors, Collen Porter, says that her office donates any food left at association to local shelter.

5.  Use RELAY - RELAY is an Internet tool allows both agent and client to do a transaction on-line, getting rid of paper, and save documents on the computer & CD.

6.  Recycle ink cartridges - Recycle ink cartridge and check if your office supplier will give you credit.

7.  Replace Standard bulb - Change bulb to the ENERGY STAR-qualified compact fluorescent light bulbs, which use 75% less energy than standard incandescent bulbs.

8.  Open the Blinds - Turn off your lights in the office and Open The Windows for natural light.

9.  Install Motion Sensor Lights - Reduce energy consumption by installing motion sensor light switches and timer.  Light will go off automatically when office is not in use.

10.  Install Energy Efficient Windows - Energy-efficient windows are designed to protect the inside environment from outside by using special glass and frame.  Save on your power bill.
