Keeping an open mind

As a former owner/broker of a successful franchise company one thing that I prided myself in was to always keep a open mind when a new idea was presented to me.  Like many of you I was inundated with opportunities from many sources.  Some would require a financial committiment, but sometimes I would be approached with an idea that did not result in any capital outlay.  In this competitive environment I think it is incumbant on the broker/owner to look at every opportunity that is presented, then determine if this opportunity will benefit the sales team.  Sometimes on the surface it does not appear that there is a defined benefit.  In these cases why not give it a try.  This new offer/idea could just be the ticket to increase listings and sales.  Many owner/brokers just feel that have no time to add something more to their plate. This could lead to a missed opportunity.  It is so easy to just stick your head in the sand.  The sales team is looking for innovation which could lead to increased listings and sales.  There will be some great opportunities that will come your way.  Take a hard look, and if you think there is even a remote chance this opportunity will increase your bottom line, go for it!  To simply say no thank you is not an option.
