I have worked with people over the years that have been afraid to share their knowledge with others. they fear that the person they are helping will use it to pass them in the chain of command. The truth is, the person that shares on a regular basis is usually the one that continues to grow in their own education. They like to share, which in turn makes them more valuable. The more you share the light of you wisdom, the brighter you will become.
I work in a very "share friendly" office. My clients are not their clients so what is the harm.
I believe in sharing the knowledge. It was a discussion not too long ago and some agents didn't want to necessarily share what was working for them - they felt as though if they told someone they would start doing whatever it was and they wouldn't have the lock on it so to speak. I beg to differ. Even if we all have the same tools - we all use and present them differently and make them unique to ourselves. It's kind of like if it isn't broke don't fix it. That's one of the reasons I work for who I do - they did all the legwork, I don't want to reinvent the wheel; But I taylor it to my style and have found that no matter how many people out there use it - it is always still different. It also shows consistancy in the market and sellers know what to expect and what they are going to get. Goes back to that "branding."
Ellie, This is my first Blog and I like to send out a quote, and then write my thoughts about it just for fun. I will go to your Blog and read it.
Congrats on your first post and I'm glad to see that you took the first step to blogging. It can be very beneficial and the knowledge that you have to share is very valuable to me. Keep blogging!
Rick~
Pay little to no attention to what seems to be harsh or unnecessary comments. I've used that quote many times and do believe; that "A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle" But in reality, I think that is where it ends. Often- when we teach or show others some of our "tricks" they do use it against us.
