The past 2 week have been horrendous. Besides dealing with anxious buyers and sellers there is just this undercurrent of hysteria that seems to be seeping in to all we do. Fannie,Freddie, AIG, The Stock Market .....the price of food....gas.....it is enough to question life as we know it .Yesterday I learned one of my politially active friend's is so disgusted with what is going on she has decided not to vote......
You are saying what does this have to with The Last Lecture ? Well that tiny little book that I read last night puts the perspective where it needs to be. Life is much more than markets and selling . It is about relationships .....deciding how you navigate through the mine field called life.
It is about deciding to laugh occasionally .......valuing people ....deciding your philosophy of life......finding something to believe in and allowing it to be what seeps in to the crevices of your mind. Especially, if you have children this is a must read. It is all about developing self esteem and at the same time a sense of responsibility for what you do. John Maxwel, another inspirational writer and lecturer, encourages us to make memories for those that we love. Each month he tries to plan an event for someone he cares about that will end up being a memory .....
These are hard times for many....but little books like this one put us back on tract.......Tell someone you care about how much they mean to you today and smile !
