Let's Introduce Tifton, Georgia to Localism.....

Tifton, Georgia is located about 200 miles south of Atlanta, Georgia. Known as "The Friendly City" it is one of the best "hometown towns" there is, having been named one of "The 100 Best Small Towns in America."

Coming into Tifton along I-75, you're sure to see that Tifton is the Reading Capital of The World and has many restaurants, from fast foods to fine dining. You can also reach Tifton via US Hwy. 82 (also known as Corridor Z), US Hwy. 41 and US Hwy. 319.

Tifton was founded by Henry Harding Tift in 1890. Agriculture was the foundation of our town in the early days. Your visit to Georgia Agrirama will take you back to some of those days as you see the grist mill, farmland, sawmill, steam train and the country store.

Tifton has grown a lot since then. One of our most enjoyable times of the year is "The Love Affair" that is held in the spring. Many artists of various venues are exhibited on stage and easel. There is food and fun for all ages as they stroll thru our historic Fulwood Park. You may even find it is a good time to stroll thru the museum and art gallery.

Spring is one of the prettiest times of the year in Tifton. The neighborhoods are full of burst of colors from all the azaleas and dogwoods blooming. It is a joy to take a Sunday afternoon ride to see the scenery.

Downtown Tifton has much to offer. Here you'll want to take in a play at Tift Theatre or take a leisurely stroll thru the shoppes or pay tribute to our fallen soldiers at the Veteran's Memorial.

Is sports your game, Tifton has it. Watch the softball games at E.B. Hamilton Softball Park. Take in the latest "Blue Devil" or "Panther" football games at their respective stadiums. You might want to practice your golf swing at one of Tifton's four golf courses.

Then of course there are our great schools from kindergarten to high school as well as our beloved Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) that recently celebrated 100 years.

Come see us and you'll see why we are one of the best small towns in America! We'd love to have you!
