Craigslist results - Are you getting them?

In July we bought a small boat had had a great deal of fun out on the lake this summer. For first time boat owners it was a dream come true. Started when it was supposed to and had been well maintained, so it looked good. As the cold weather has approached we were looking into storage facilities for the boat until Spring when we'd try to sell it and buy a bigger one. (Since we decided it was something we enjoy a great deal, but want to have room for more!) On a whim, we placed an ad (made on Postlets). The first day we received 3 calls and 2 emails. Not bad! The second day we had two appointments to show the boat and the next day the first person who'd called came and bought it! Talk about results! Even better Craigslist is free! Here's a copy of the ad:

Boat for Sale!

With Craigslist I've heard we are supposed to continually repost our Real Estate listings. I am not always diligent in this, but have renewed hope in this service, so I am making a commitment right now to get better at this and stick to it for the sake of getting these listings SOLD!

Holly,

I have used Craig's List to sell or give away everything under the sun, it works!  I have used CR to list rentals and investment opportunities, it works.  I have always listed my homes on CR but I have never sold one from it.

Take care!

I recently sold a used vehicle on Craigslist.  I posted it on a Friday afternoon -- within 1 hour I had a call on it, the following Tuesday it was sold.  I was really surprised.  I wish it worked that well on my properties.  I find that my property listings just get a lot of spammer attention -- not much buyer attention. ~ Evelyn

I think Craigslist sucks!!! Sorry, but it does. At least for me it has been that way. I get a bunch of those overseas scam artists from Nigeria and I have never gotten a good Real Estate lead. However, having said that ... the customer likes it, likes being on Craiglist. I guess their comfort makes it worth the 10 minutes it takes to make a Craiglist post.

I love Craigslist.  Have used it not only for advertising, but also for selling and buying personal items.

Patrick, we get alot of the scam too but it is relatively easy to spot them and real easy to delete them.  I think it is worth the hassle - of course I can't sing the praises of getting quality leads as of yet - but ONE DAY my friend!  One day!

I use Craigslist to sell smaller items and a good friend uses it to purchase cars, but I don't know how valuable it will be for home sales.
