For the past several years now, I have been privileged to be able to attend a Messianic (Jews that do believe Jesus is the Messiah) Passover Seder. If anyone has the opportunity to attend one during the next Easter season in their area, I highly recommend it. You will receive so much insight into what Jesus was saying when he broke the bread and drank the wine. There is so much more to it than just celebrating communion! There are 4 cups of wine that are drank which are similar to the 4 cups of wine that are drank at a Jewish Wedding ceremony. Understanding the significance of which glass of wine Jesus was referring to and its meaning is very important. It is an awesome experience and a way to allow God to draw you deeper!
For instance, the unleavened bread, Matzo, which looks like a big cracker is what Jesus used when he broke the bread. If you look at the bread it has brown patches on it which they call bruising, it has holes in it, and they are in rows. Therefore the bread is bruised, pierced, and striped representing perfectly Jesus' body.
I wish I could give more and better details that would help you understand, except that I would not do them justice, and it is better to experience it yourself.
You can look in your phone book and see if there is a Messianic Congregation in your community and ask them if they hold a Passover Seder for the public. I have also seen advertisements online for Passover Seders in different areas as well.
I hope you all have the opportunity at some time to enjoy a Messianic Passover Seder! It will be a night you will never forget!
God bless,
Teresa Tieben
