Stagers Look Out!

By
Home Stager with Showhomes

I came across this post recently:

STAGERS LOOK OUT THEY ARE COMING FOR YOU... LOCK YOUR DOORS.

Eric, the author pointed out some really disturbing trends where theives are stealing homes of furniture from staged homes. This is not a new problem - staged homes and homes where people are moving out or in have traditionally been targets for theft. In Paradise Valley, our franchise owner returned from market to find an entire home of really expensive staging furniture stolen:

At Showhomes, we enourage our franchise owners to insure their inventory and this stager had really good insurance. Even though the inventory is covered, she lost revenue on it and it took several months to replace. The lost time really adds up to a lot of lost revenue that she would have earned.

Make sure you have INSURANCE!

We use a specialized agent for this:

Teresa Durham, CPCU, AAI, AU
Commercial Lines Customer Service Agent

Fridrich, Pinson & Rothberg Insurance

3825 Bedford Avenue,

Suite 203

Nashville, TN  37215

615-277-1482 (phone)

615-321-0880 (fax)

She writes policies for us that cover loss of inventory. I think $75k of replacement is about $2500 a year.

We had the home covered but it took a long time. Since we are a franchise company with 37 offices, we have a larger economy of scale and can get better rates and underwriting on our policies but I’m sure she can help you. Staging inventory insurance is expensive, though – you get what you pay for!
